BADMINTON

Badminton House in Gloucestershire was (and still is) the principal seat of the Dukes of Beaufort and is said to be the “most comfortable large country-house in England”. It is part of an estate of 22,000 acres, but the house is not isolated in its park, since it is adjacent to Badminton village. Badminton House gave its name to the sport of badminton. It is also associated with fox-hunting, as successive Dukes have been Masters of the Beaufort Hunt. Nowadays, it is also the home of the Badminton Horse Trials.
